Rudi for rwanda

Hi everyone!

After the race in Rwanda I felt something I can’t ignore. The energy from the kids along the road was incredible — they were running beside us, smiling, cheering, and somehow giving me strength and courage exactly when the race was getting hard.

Seeing them reminds you of what really matters. Many of them have very little, yet they find joy in everything. Sometimes we create problems for ourselves that don’t really matter, while for them happiness can be as simple as playing in the street — pushing a hoop with a stick, or kicking a ball made of old rags. And still, they smile.

They kept saying “good morning” and “give me money” — probably words they repeat without fully knowing their meaning, but with genuine excitement and openness.

This experience really touched me. Together with Nesa, I’d like to start a small project to support children in local villages and give them better opportunities, especially through sport and cycling — values like commitment, teamwork and hope. Nesa is also working on building a new women’s cycling team here.

For my next race, I’m thinking of organizing a small donation initiative to help support this project and these kids.

Nothing big or mandatory — just something from the heart for those who’d like to contribute.
